Notes on my pest and virus management
I am a small scale farm with a large focus on dahlias. As the sole farmer I manage the fields start to finish. This means I actively assess for the presence of disease or virus before, during, and after the growing season. Any questionable plant is pulled and destroyed. In regard to dahlia handling, all tools are sanitized between cuts of cuttings, blooms, and tubers. Beneficial insects are used to minimize pest pressure, and they do a great job. Stubborn pests occasionally receive a dose of Captain Jack's Dead Bug Brew. I also use miticide as needed. We do not host any u-pick events. All harvesting is done by me. For my operation virus testing is cost prohibitive and is not done. Again, any suspicious plants are pulled and destroyed.
Remember, dahlias are affected by many viruses, and according to the ADS, roughly 87% of dahlias may harbor disease. Despite all the measures I take keeping the cleanest fields I can, virus still can and will happen. I cannot guarantee virus free tubers.

If you are unable to plant your tubers when they arrive based on your climate, you’ll need to provide an appropriate method to store them. A cool dark place works great. There are plenty of resources out there to help you decide what is best for you. Please do your homework. I cannot be responsible for improper storage methods.
If you are new to dahlias please take time to educate yourself about good growing and pest management practices. I cannot be responsible for negligent growing or pest management practices.
Again, you will receive plump tubers with viable eyes. Many things can happen once the tuber is planted. It is crucial you understand your growing environment and the needs of growing healthy dahlias. I can’t be responsible for tubers rotting in the ground, unexpected floods, freezes, heatwaves that might have an effect on the growth habit of your dahlias.
